Cottari Kankaiya Nayudu, the first cricketer to score a century in each of India’s first seven Test matches (before the Second World War) was born in Nagpur on 31 October 1895.
He grew up in a family that patronized cricket and sponsored young students who wished to play the game provided they exhibited the desire to do so. He started playing for Hislop Collegiate High School, Nagpur, where he captained.
